I was born and raised in South Carolina (Spartanburg), educated in Kentucky (UK), married a Georgia girl while living in Alabama as I worked a sales territory that included southern Mississippi and the panhandle of Florida, before moving to the Tennessee/Virginia state line (Bristol) and now Black Mountain, North Carolina. I guess you could say that I am a Southerner.
Boy Scouts, bicycles, and baseball were my childhood loves. Athletic Training and Sportsmedicine occupied my time through high school (Spartanburg), college (The Citadel), and graduate school (Univ of Kentucky). My BS and MBA degrees fostered a career in sales and entrepreneurship before I discovered a calling to education. Two more years of college at King College plus teaching stints at Sullins Academy, Reynolds High and Owen Middle preceded my current position of Academically & Intellectually Gifted Specialist at OMS and BME. 2016-2017 is my fourteenth year with AIG and twentieth at Owen.  I've been active in the Presbyterian Church USA my whole life.
I love teaching. I love being a parent and a husband even more. Black Mountain is a fabulous place to live and work. I count my blessings every day and those include the opportunity to challenge the bright young minds of our district from grades four through eight.
