Teacher Bio
Welcome to my Classroom
Math and Science Dorothy Snyder
Owen Middle School
My name is Dorothy Snyder and I have been teaching in the Swannanoa, Black Mountain area for over 20 some years. My two girls grew up in the area and this has a very special place in my heart. We have the best of students in this area. I love teaching the students and working and learning from them. I teach sixth grade Science which includes our earth with its minerals and rocks, plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, weathering and erosion. We also look at our Solar System, different types of energy, and population and environment. It is a very packed curriculum.

I am a person who loves working with students and animals. I have a farm in Old Fort and rescue abused animals as well as raise miniature donkeys and pygmy goats. My husband is a minister at Mission Hospital and loves what he does. If you ever have any questions or concerns about the class please call or email. I will help out any way I can.

I majored in elementary education, graduating from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I have dual certification, K-3 and 4-6.
