The Big6 Research Process
The Big6 has been adopted as Buncombe County School's district research model because it is easliy adaptable for primary, middle, and high school students.  The Big6 was created by Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz.
What is the Big6?
The Big6 is a research process model which guides students through the information problem-solving process.  Using the Big6 process enables students to handle any assignment, decision or task.
Big6 Steps
Step 1: Task Definition
Define the Task
Identify the information needed
Step 2: Information Seeking
Determine all possible resources
Select best possible resources
Step 3: Location and Access
Locate the resources
Find information within resources
Step 4: Use of Information
Read, listen, view, touch resources
Extract relevant information (take notes)
Step 5: Synthesis
Organize the information from multiple resources
Present the information
Step 6: Evaluation
Judge the product (effectiveness)
Judge the process (efficiency)
