Aiken, Robert -- Science (8th)

I was born 'n raised in Atlanta, GA, spent much of his time as a youngster playing either the tuba, bassoon, clarinet, or snare drum. During marching season, I marched primarily rifle, but also dabbled with sabre. In college, I was a member of some independent guards in and around South GA or North FL. I taught guard of and on for years (more than I wish to count), retiring a few years ago. Although I no longer teach it, I still spin with adult guards occasionally.

In 2002, I received by Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valdosta State University. Upon graduation, I practiced in the Emergency Department and finally the Neuro Unit of Emory University Hospital in Decatur, GA At Grady Memorial Hospital, I worked in the level 1 trauma center. I pseudo specialized in neuro-emergent disorders like hemorrhagic stroke and traumatic brain injury. I did not practice for very long and decided to pursue my other passion: teaching. In 2009, I moved to Asheville, NC and entered the University of North Carolina at Asheville to get my teaching certificate.

I have a very active life beyond school. I like to develop web and desktop-based applications in my spare time, as well as swim, hike, bike, waterski, and travel when I get the whim.
