Buttercream and Cream Cheese Icing

BUTTERCREAM ICING-Decorator Icing

1 Cup butter, softened

1 cup shortening (Crisco)

Beat until creamy

Add slowly:

2 LBS sifted powdered sugar

Mixing and scraping the bottom of the bowl periodically.

Add:

2 tsp. clear vanilla extract

Add:

6-8 Tablespoons of milk one at a time beating after each addition until desired consistency is reached.

Cover with clean, wet dishtowel until ready to use.

 

*** CHOCOLATE BUTTERCREAM VARIATION***

Add 1 2/1 cup cocoa powder or 6 oz. unsweetened chocolate squares, melted

*** darker chocolate-add more cocoa

****thin with corn syrup, water, or milk



Cream Cheese Frosting

1 pound cream cheese, softened

1 c. butter, softened

1 tsp. vanilla extract

4 cups sifted powdered sugar

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter and vanilla extract together until smooth. Add the sugar and on low speed, beat until incorporated. Increase the speed to high and mix until very light and fluffy.
